What if, as Head of SEO, you were at the heart of the latest developments every day, experimenting with innovations and brainstorming with other specialists about how the search landscape is changing? We sat down for a chat with Kerim, Head of SEO at Team Violet in Deventer. Kerim has over 11 years’ experience in online marketing, including more than 5 years at Traffic Today.
In this interview, Kerim explains why he chose Traffic Today , how he experiences his role as Head of SEO, and what working according to the ‘cell’ philosophy means to him.
“My role involves a combination of different responsibilities. I spend a large part of my time liaising with clients: I attend strategic sessions and monthly meetings to help clients further develop their SEO strategy. In doing so, I keep them informed about how SEO is evolving, what changes we expect, and how they can adapt their marketing activities accordingly.”
“I also spend a lot of time on analysis and experimentation. I devise new solutions and explore how we can automate repetitive tasks, for example using tools such as N8N.”
“The third part of my job is managing the team internally. I provide direction to the SEO team, work closely with my content and SEA colleagues, and mentor junior and mid-level colleagues in their development.”
“What makes this role so rewarding for me is the opportunity to inspire others and help them grow; both within the team and beyond. Together, we develop new solutions and continually take our SEO services to the next level. With a team of four SEO marketers, we work closely together, and it is precisely this shared drive that ensures we achieve strong results time and time again. That is hugely rewarding.”
“Furthermore, SEO is the common thread running through virtually every campaign. It touches on almost every area of specialism, which means we have a significant influence on the strategic direction. I can really steer campaigns. That’s what makes the role challenging and multifaceted: you coordinate, inspire and, at the same time, contribute to the content.”
“A good example is our LLM pilot for a client. We tested how content and technology relate to LLM visibility and worked on automating repetitive tasks.”
“The results so far are promising: we’re seeing improvements in both organic visibility and LLM visibility. This aligns well with our philosophy that SEO and content are closely intertwined. We take a down-to-earth and pragmatic approach, without blindly following trends.”

“By consulting with SEO leads from other cells and through daily contact on Slack, we continuously share insights, best practices and experiences. As a result, each cell has access to a broader range of knowledge and nobody has to reinvent the wheel. This enables us to apply successful methods and experiments more quickly and makes our work more effective and impactful for our clients.”
“In early 2026, we brainstormed with all SEO marketers about the direction for the new year. This cross-team consultation allowed us to combine insights from different teams. Although each cell has its own vision and priorities, this joint session provided a clear direction and shared goals. In this way, we make the most of everyone’s knowledge and experience.”
“At Traffic Today , there is plenty of scope for personal and professional development. For example, you’re allowed to spend 10 per cent of your hours on your own development. I can also carve out time within client hours to explore new topics.”
“Because you have a lot of contact with other Heads, there’s plenty of informal coaching and knowledge-sharing. You’re constantly learning from one another and continuing to develop. I also have a monthly coaching session with my Business Lead to discuss my own growth.”
“I also regularly attend SEO and marketing events to keep up to date with new developments, such as BrightonSEO and Semrush events. And at the end of this year, I’ll probably be going to the International Search Summit in Barcelona.”
“Of course, you need to have a passion for SEO. But it’s also important that you enjoy inspiring, motivating and guiding others. You don’t have to do everything yourself – and you shouldn’t want to either.”
“It’s all about putting the right people in the right place and letting everyone make the most of their strengths. As Head of SEO, you combine subject matter expertise with leadership: you take the initiative where necessary, but above all ensure that the team achieves the best results together. Does that sound like something for you? Then I’d say: apply.”
