Corporate social responsibility. Is this mainly just a buzzword, or is there a real power in the term that enables companies to look beyond turnover figures? To be honest, it was never really high on our agenda – you might as well know that. Amidst all the hustle and bustle of the marketing landscape, we often get bogged down in the issues of the day. This doesn’t mean, however, that our colleagues aren’t socially engaged. On the contrary; many TT staff use their annual volunteer day to support an initiative that’s important to them. But it never became a collective effort.
And that’s what we wanted to change with Team Zwolle. When we were approached by ZwolleDoet to contribute to a new initiative aimed at connecting voluntary organisations with businesses, we said ‘yes’ without hesitation.
The Matchtival on Thursday 12 November will bring together businesses and social organisations from Zwolle and the surrounding area – in a fun and interactive way. Fewer roll-up banners, more festival wristbands. After all, the event is primarily about meeting people, discovering new things and making a difference for one another.
Because as a business, you probably have much more to offer than you realise. Perhaps you have expertise that could be of immense help to a voluntary organisation – for example, by making materials, knowledge or facilities available. Or colleagues who would be happy to put their talents to use for others.
That idea certainly appealed to us. Especially as we ourselves are still very much exploring how we want to shape this.
Although we are still exploring exactly what social engagement should look like for Traffic Today , we are, fortunately, already quite knowledgeable about one subject: marketing.
We have therefore been asked by the organisers of Het Matchtival to deliver a workshop on marketing – for the businesses in attendance, but certainly also for the voluntary organisations. We know that social and voluntary organisations often have plenty of inspiring stories, good ideas and enthusiasm. But how do you translate this into successful marketing campaigns? That’s quite a challenge. With limited time, a limited budget and a hundred other things that actually feel more important.
So where do you start? What do you say? How do you reach new volunteers, participants or donors? Which channels are even relevant? And how do you ensure that marketing delivers results without it immediately becoming a full-time job?
During the workshop, we aim to provide accessible answers to these questions.
As well as our workshop, there are plenty more interesting events on the agenda for 12 November. So we’re just as keen to go along to listen carefully and learn from companies that have been practising corporate social responsibility for much longer. And could we make a lasting contribution to a social organisation in the region? We’re certainly open to the idea!
We are therefore putting out a call to all businesses in our network in the Zwolle region. Perhaps you recognise yourself in our quest to integrate corporate social responsibility into your business. Perhaps you’d like to hear from others about how they go about it. Or maybe you’re simply curious about what’s happening outside your company’s walls in your region.
We think the Matchtival is a great place to start. It’s a chance to look beyond your usual network, meet organisations you wouldn’t normally come across, and discover what you can do for one another. Because perhaps, as a company, you have something truly valuable to offer. You just need to find out who’s waiting for it.
And did you know that socially responsible employment practices also hold great appeal for new employees? Find out all about it at the Matchtival on Thursday 12 November 2026 at De Markersfabriek. We look forward to seeing you there!
