From 31 March 2025, it will be mandatory for all Channable users with an Amazon API to switch to the Amazon V2 API. This update not only brings improvements in performance and stability, but also ensures that your product feeds and order integrations comply with Amazon’s latest requirements. In this blog, we’ll explain what’s changing and why it’s important to take action in good time.
What’s new in the Amazon V2 API?
The Amazon V2 API offers a number of significant improvements over the previous version. Below are some time-saving updates which, in our view, represent a major improvement:
- Listing levels: Decide for yourself which data submission level best suits your needs, so that you can set up your products without any hassle. Within the listing levels, the new API distinguishes between:
- Product and item updates: This is the most commonly used option, particularly when creating new products, where you submit your products’ main details (title, description, images) and information about the specific offer (price, stock, delivery).
- Item-only updates: Are your products already listed on Amazon? Avoid error messages and save time by adding item information only.
- Product-only updates: If you want to add products to Amazon more quickly and effortlessly, you can choose to update only the main details, such as the title, description and images of your products.
- Simpler parent-child structures: Whereas previously you had to create two APIs to set up the parent-child structure correctly, this can now be done within a single API by setting a rule. The biggest advantage of this is fewer error messages!
- Early error notifications: The integration between Amazon and Channable can generate a large number of error notifications. However, in the current API, these error messages only become visible after execution. A new feature makes it possible to identify these error messages before they are sent to Amazon, whilst also allowing you to navigate directly to the field causing the issue. This will save you a great deal of time.
Why is this transition important?
Amazon has announced that the old API will no longer be supported after 31 March 2025. This means that if you do not switch to the V2 API in time, you will no longer be able to send products to Amazon or synchronise orders. This could have a direct impact on your sales performance.
In addition, the new API not only offers improved performance but also better insights into product feeds and order processing. This helps you work more efficiently and respond more quickly to any errors or changes in your product range.
How do you switch to the Amazon V2 API?
Channable offers a simple step-by-step plan to ensure a smooth transition:
- Check your current API settings in Channable and identify which integrations need to be converted.
- Create a new Amazon V2 API connection in your Channable account.
- Test the new integration to verify that product feeds are being transferred correctly. You won’t be sending products to Amazon straight away, which allows you to check the integration and verify which products are currently in the account.
- Disable the old API as soon as you are certain that the V2 API is functioning correctly.
- Monitor performance and check regularly for any error messages or opportunities for optimisation.
